                                                                 16 Nov 2006 Meeting

The meeting began at 7:10 PM with the Pledge of Allegiance led by club President Ron Browning.

There were 40 in attendance.

   Business in order of presentation:

1.  The Club did well during the Dunnellon Heritage Days at Rainbow Springs State Park on 27-28 Oct.  The club members who participated sold over $2,000 worth of turnings and the club was able to contribute $453 to the Rainbow Springs State Park (20% of club member’s sales during the event).   Don Wither encouraged more members to participate in the future.

2  Our treasurer, Frank Sospenzi, provided the treasurer’s report.  The ending balance for October was $4,320.39.  He also remindded members that memberships must be renewed at the Jan 2007 meeting as that is the start of the new membership year.  The treasurers report and the secretaries report from the last month were, as always, available for all to review.  They have also been available on the club’s web site (www.handsonwoodturning.org).

3.  Frank Sospenzi announced that the club will again have tables for selling club turned items at the Wood Carver’s club sale.  This will be held at the Inverness Fairgrounds next to the airport the first Saturday in December (2 December).

4. Don Wither and George Benac announced the results of the nominating committee’s search for individuals willing to serve as club officers for 2008.  The announced nominees were:  Club President - Nick DiMona; Club Vice President – Tony Cortese; Club Treasurer – Frank Sospenzi; Club Secretary – Ken Habedank; At Large Representative – Al Caton.  Election of club officers will be held during the January 2008 meeting.

5.  Dave Melton encouraged members to plan to attend the club’s Christmas party during the December meeting, 21 Dec 2006.  He handed out sign up sheets for those intending to attend.  There will be a gift exchange and an ornament exchange at the Christmas party.

6.  It was announced that the 100 ticket minimum required before we raffled the club’s small One Way lathe had been met and the winning raffle ticket was drawn.  The winner was Ron Browning!

7.  Barry Caito won the “bring back” which was a bottle of wine and a beautiful wine stopper turned by Roger Tafton.

.

This months demo consisted of a Tricks and Tips session.  The panel members included Al Caton, Nick DiMona and Bob Huss.  It was an outstanding session and even the more experienced wood turners learned from the discussions.

Next month will be the Christmas Party on 21 December 2006.

 Respectfully submitted,

 Ken Habedank, Secretary
