The Meeting came to order at 7:04 PM with the Pledge of Allegiance.
Business in order of presentation:
1. The Treasurer’s report stated that the club had spent $79.45 during the past month, and revenues amounted to $287.00 (including a $61 donation to the Youth Ranch project). The ending balance is now $5,879.32. A motion was made by Dave Melton, seconded by Frank McKenzie and passed to accept the treasures report. 2. A special raffle for the Youth Ranch project (Sheriff’s Boys Ranch) was held in addition to the club’s normal monthly raffle. The item being raffled was a beautiful hollowed and pierced ornament by Richard Morris. A total of $65 was collected with this raffle. Club members expressed their appreciation to Richard for doing this! 3. Club Vice President Tony Cortese presented a report on the recent AAW National Symposium in Portland. Several club members attended and enjoyed the event. Over 1,500 attended the National Symposium. 4. Club Treasurer, Frank Sospenzi , gave a report on the FWS in 2008. They are doing the mailing for this symposium in the next few weeks. 5. There will be a Super Sawdust session at Rainbow Springs on 15 Sep 2007. It will be free for club members and cost $5 for non club members. Dave Melton will be doing the cooking. 6. John Muscol is scheduled to present an all day workshop on 19 Nov 2007. This will also be free for club members but will cost non club members $25. 7. Club President Nick DiMona announced that on 13 Aug 2007, several of the boys in the turning class at the Sheriff’s Boys Ranch will be coming to a teaching session at his shop. Several club members will help with the instruction. The club will also provide lunch for the boys. 8. This month there were four “bring back” items in the raffle. The winners were: - Jesse Woodard - Frank McKenzie - Mitch McMullen - Carl Cox
Demonstration by club past president Ron Browning – Ron demonstrated his techniques, tools and special cutting jig for segmented bowls. Ron had two useful handouts and several examples of segmented work done by himself and his father. It was a great demonstration and appreciated by all.
The next meeting will be 16 Aug with Mitch McMullen demonstrating some of his techniques for thin stemmed goblets.
